What means "making a difference" in the world of the
I Ging?
Concerning the last thesis of Zhang Qizhi, that we should keep
the historical message of
Confucius in mind, we want to do a survey through science fiction.
What we are interested
in is to find attempts of a new respect for Chinese lifestyle
and culture in that interesting
literature, mostly written for young people. Science fiction can
be an educational fiction, so
we are not as much interested in new gadgets but in new ideas.
Since the late nineteenth century some American authors put up
the stereotype "yellow peril"
or "sinister oriental" (=> more
about). Today there are new authors with other opinions. Best
example is "White Mars or: The Mind Set Free" from 1999,
written by Brian W. Aldiss and
Roger Penrose.
Our project "Science Fiction" wants to explore and to
review selected works and to engage
young visitors especially to open their mind for new ideas about
the relevance of the
Chinese and their traditions to our common planet.
